How many times have you sat around and talked about what you'd do if you won a million dollars?
I've done this too. The possibilities are endless and fun to think about.
But the reality is, very few of us are winning any lottery money, or getting a million dollars bequeathed to us at any point in our lifetime. Easy money, million dollar lotteries, or money falling out of the sky, just ain't happening. How sweet it would be, but we need to get back to reality.
The thoughts of winning a couple of million dollars is intriguing, indeed, but what is more intriguing is how many of us actually play this sort of "lottery" game with our future. It's fascinating how we don't realize that when we fail to do antyint to actually prepare and take steps to solidify our financial futures, we are essentially playing the lottery with our future financial selves.
The lack of planning and preparing and saving for the future is a dangerous game that bankrupts our future and leads to a whole host of problems down the road. I'm referring to thins like having to work longer in our later years, lacking of money to do what we want to do as opposed to what we have to do, the housing in our later years, medical care, the time we get to spend with our grandkids and other family members, and the list goes on. All because we didn't take the time to think about, work on, organize, plan, and have the vision it took to get our futures locked up when we were young. Everything in our future lives is impacted by this lottery game we play today.
The beauty is that It is never too late to start! Regardless of where you are in your future planning, your investments, and future savings, you can start today. Anything you save and invest today, you can reap the benefits from in the future. The more time you give your savings/investments to work, the more it will grow, so the sooner you start, the better.
You've got an opportunity today, to make sure you are well taken care of tomorrow, and the chances are, no one else in the world is thinking about YOUR future older self. This is fantastic news, because it means you have the responsibility to see to it that you are well taken care of in your old age. You don't have to play the lottery when you start thinking about the future and start preparing for the future.
So lets get going full throttle. Take inventory on where you are, figure out where you want to be, and start doing something about your financial future. Call your human resources department at your job and work on putting more money towards your retirement, or double down on the investments you are makng outside of your jobs retirement plan. Just star. You can do it!
